Union County Football: Friday Night Preview

Union County is coming into this weeks game against the Vikings 2-1. After an ugly loss against Gaffney in Week 1 the Jackets focused on special teams at practice and showed huge improvements against York last Friday night. I was very please with the Yellow Jacket victory on a rainy Friday night.

Our QB Brandon Thompson is a force to be reckoned with. He is not afraid to take the ball and run with it. Thompson carried 15 times for 150 yards, and completed 17-of-27 throws for 197 yards against the Cougars. He also ran the ball 65 yards to put the jackets in field goal position.

Gamecock commit Shi Smith is another player to watch out for Friday night. He does have a little lingering ankle injury that happened in week zero.

New Head Coach Bradley Adams is a breath of fresh air for the Jackets. Not only is he coaching these guys on the field but he and his staff are trying to coach these guys in life. He has told me several times that discipline is his main concern and you can see week by week that the personal fouls are fading away.

Hopeful the Vikings and Jackets won’t have a game like last season (lasting until 2 in the morning due to weather delays). Personally I think this game will turn out to be a close nail bitter.
